The internationally renowned conservation activist group Reef Relief has announced its second annual holiday online auction to help protect coral reefs.
The 2006 Reef Relief Holiday Online Auction is scheduled to begin on November 10 and will run through December 15.
According to Reef Relief's Jeffrey Snipes, this year's auction will build on the success of the 2005 auction.
In addition to artwork, merchandise and memorabilia, participants in the 2006 auction will be able to bid on holiday travel packages, dining and scuba diving equipment.
"We've already received many great items such as artwork, hotel stays, celebrity events, memorabilia, and tropical merchandise and are adding new items continuously," Snipes said.
To contribute items to Reef Relief's auction, email reef@bellsouth.net.
To bid on items, check out Reef Relief's web site at www.reefrelief.org on November 10.
Reef Relief is celebrating its 20th year of nonprofit efforts to protect coral reefs from its headquarters in Key West and works year-round on environmental education programs, policy guidance and marine projects that make a difference for coral reefs and the marine wildlife they nurture.
Several years ago, Reef Relief made a huge difference when it joined together with the Humane Society, the Marine Safety Group and other conservation activists to protect Florida's marine wildlife from PADI, DEMA, Project Aware and other U.S. dive industry profiteers that colluded to commercially exploit and harass sharks.
That effort resulted in a law banning shark feeding in Florida state waters. |
